Adela Health today launched an Indiegogo (#indiegogo) campaign ( ) to raise funds to finalize development for TruPosture (#truposture) – the world’s first smart shirt designed to promote healthy back posture and help reduce back pain. Featuring a patented multi-sensor technology that tracks the alignment of the entire spine, the TruPosture system will train the wearer with feedback through visual displays (via the mobile app or website) and gentle vibrations to help the wearer achieve and maintain their ideal posture.

The campaign, which has a funding goal of $50,000USD, features limited Early Bird specials of $99USD (for one TruPosture system), a 50% savings off the retail price of $199USD.  Other rewards include early adopter pricing and TruPosture systems bundles for gifts packages, Physical Therapists and Chiropractors. More than 31 million Americans suffer from back pain, which is the leading cause of disability worldwide and also the most common reason for missed work. Health experts say that as much as 80% of the population will have some kind of back problem in their lives. Good posture can help greatly reduce those chances and is essential in maintaining a healthy pain free back.

The TruPosture Smart Shirt is a lightweight sensor–embedded undershirt that is self-contained, but can also synch with the custom TruPosture mobile tracking app. The system provides gentle electronic reminders to straighten the wearer’s back – one vibration burst if the user is leaning too forward and two vibration bursts if they are leaning too far back. The nanosensors in the shirt continuously measure spine alignment from the neck down to the pelvis in order to provide real-time posture improvement data.

The TruPosture system features multiple posture training modes such as standing, sitting, and custom and is adjustable to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels to help the wearer “train” their back into the correct posture. Wearers are able to save and recall multiple posture references as the system has extended recording capability to allow users to review their posture performance over time. In addition, the data gathered can be shared with the wearer’s medical professionals with the user’s permission and can easily integrate with popular fitness trackers for monitoring of daily activities and training progress.

“With back pain being one of the leading causes of disability around the world, we set out to create an easy to use solution that merges health, technology and clothing,” said, Dan Ikoyan, creator of, TruPosture.  “Our Indiegogo campaign provides everyone a great opportunity to be among the first to get the TruPosture Smart Shirt at a great price.”

The TruPosture shirt is created with soft, breathable and anti-microbial Lycra blend fabric. The comfortable shirt features compression both to promote blood circulation and muscle recovery as well as to be an unnoticeable second skin under regular clothing. It is machine washable and comes in a variety of designs, color and sizes made for both women and men.
