There’s a ton of excitement in the tech world about the new virtual reality (VR) device, known as Oculus Rift. But what does it mean if you’re not tech savvy?
First off, Oculus Rift has two headsets — Rift and Gear VR.
Rift is $599 and an all-encompassing headset. It works with a PC, but it must be Oculus ready to use. Gear VR is $99 and works similar to Google Cardboard, where you put your phone in the headset and it works through your phone. Gear VR is only compatible with a Samsung Galaxy Smartphone.
For those of you who don’t really know what virtual reality is, the headsets, once you put it on, you feel like you’re part of the action. Currently, it’s used for gaming. But soon, like Cardboard, it will be used for other things like live demonstrations, concerts, and more.
Personally, I can’t wait for the day that I enter a room and I feel like I’m experiencing a journey. But, that journey will happen sooner than we know it because with Oculus Rift, we’re just about there.
