In March 1992, Hilary Topper founded HJMT Public Relations, Inc., a leading New York public relations and social media agency. Before starting the business, she worked at top Public Relations firms such as Ogilvy & Mather PR; Hill, Holiday/PR; and Ruder Finn/PR. She also served as Director of Public Relations and Development for two non-profit organizations in New York City.

In 2007, Hilary made the dramatic decision to launch a “new media” division within her agency. As an   early adopter of social media, her firm grew substantially. In 2008, Hilary launched the HilaryTopper.com (now NYLifeStyleblog), which receives more than 88,000 unique visitors each month. HlaryTopper.com was named “Blog of the Year” by the Fair Media Council and was also a two-time Stevie Awards “Woman’s Blog of the Year” finalist.

Hilary blogs primarily about her experiences as a small business owner, product reviews, book reviews, wearable technology, concert and music reviews as well as her daily observations about life in New York.

In August 2009, Hilary wrote one of the first books on Social Media, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Social Media, but were afraid to ask… Building Your Business Using Consumer Generated Media. The book received high accolades and support from the PR industry and the business community including numerous articles and reviews in publications.

In 2011, Hilary launched Hilary Topper On Air, a Blogtalk radio show that boasts more than 100,000 listeners. In 2012, Hilary founded the Social Media Association. One year later, she was selected as a beta tester for Google as a Google Glass Explorer.  She and her staff took that opportunity and debuted the first Google Glass Reality Show, Glasslandia.

After that, she launched ARunnersDiary.com, which was later changed to ATriathletesDiary.com, where she reviews products, races and experiences in the sport.

In 2014, Hilary launched two new technology shows on YouTube — Wearable on Air and Tech News Now.

Hilary is an adjunct professor at Hofstra University in their Master’s and Undergraduate programs teaching Public Relations and Technology.

She has received numerous awards and honors for her accomplishments from PRWeek, Newsday, The Communicator Awards, International Association of Business Communicators, Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women, Long Island Business News, Girl Scouts of Nassau County, DiversityBusiness.com, The Stevie Awards and BRAVA Award.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Hunter College and her Masters in Public Administration from Baruch College.
